Church Outreach – We are reaching out to area churches with the following message. Please encourage your church to participate in our campaign to raise funds for VIJ. Your pastor should have received the following letter:

Dear Pastor:

Victory in Jesus Recovery Center (VIJ) is a recovery mission located in Wharton, Texas. Our mission is to lead adult men struggling with alcohol and substance abuse to overcome their addiction through the healing grace of Jesus Christ. We are Wesleyan centered focusing on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, scripture study, self-examination, worship, fellowship, and service. We are also 12 step centered.

Attached is our most recent newsletter. These are testimonies of several men who have been through our program in the last few years describing what Victory in Jesus has done for their life.

We are asking that churches in the Wharton, Matagorda, and Fort Bend County area to consider giving $25.00 per month to our ministry. This will help us continue to carry the Word of Christ to these men. The men who come to our ministry are indigent. We are not supported through state programs, therefore, we are totally dependent on the contributions of Christian people and organizations for our funding.

A check can be mailed to the address listed above or we will soon be able to accept payments through our website. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.

Director VIJ

Choir 

Men from VIJ make up the St Paul’s United Methodist Church Choir in Bay City Texas. They sing many popular tunes from the 70’s and 80’s including “Stand by Me”, “Why me Lord”, and “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore”.

Wharton October Festival

The guys at VIJ helped Carl King set up for the October Street Festival. This has become a regular occurrence for men at VIJ. They often help the community set up for various parades and festivals they have on the town square. We look forward to helping with future events as they are come our way.

Community Service

VIJ planted the courtyard at St Paul’s UMC this last year. It is complete with roses, stokes holly, and Irises. We maintained the beautiful rock work, benches, and trellis’ originally placed in the courtyard.

VIJ also assisted the City of Wharton planting turf grass at River Front Park to help beautify the Wharton Downtown Area.
